The Good and Not so good News

as we greet the New Year

 

 

First, the good news.  Once more, as in every year past, we received a greeting from Luis Enrique.  In it, he reiterates his commitment to pay us as promptly as possible, and requests our help in securing an early trial date.

 The bad news:  It seems that because Osvaldo was released from jail, the trial we are all waiting for is no longer eligible for priority consideration since there is no one being held in custody.  As a result, doing nothing could allow the trial to possibly be delayed until the end of 2006.

 Therefore, it is clear that we must continue to take appropriate and measured action if we want to change the order of things.  In his letter, Luis Enrique expresses his concern and asks for your cooperation to secure a prompt trial date.

 And so, we will ask you to continue to make personal visits to the Contraloria de Servicios, Edificio de la Corte Suprema, starting again on the 16th of January.  As before, request to speak with Lena White Curling.  Again, she will tell you that she cannot change the date of trial... but in fact, she has access to the Judge who will set the trial date, and the more investors that come before her, the more powerful our message will be to the Judge.

 Our message is clear:  Although technically we are not parties in the case because we chose not to file a denuncia against Luis Enrique, our life savings remain frozen by the government until the trial is complete.  We need a speedy trial.  PLEASE REMEMBER TO BE POLITE AT ALL TIMES.  We will reissue complete instructions before the 16th.

 We are also working several other avenues towards our goal to get an early court date.  Since we are not legal parties in the case, our only strength is in our numbers, so your participation is the difference between success and failure for all of us.

 We wish all of you the best for the coming year, and above all, don't give up hope.  A light shines at the end of this long tunnel.
