UCCR President
John Manners
Confronting a new
challenge
As we
recently informed you, John Manners is on a
temporary leave of absence in the United
States. However, it is with a heavy heart
that we tell you today the reason for his
departure was a diagnosis of advanced colon
cancer. He is presently at the home of his
older brother in New York. After additional
tests to establish the parameters of the
disease, he is scheduled for surgery at a
local hospital, which will then be followed
by an extended period of treatment.
For so
many of you John is more than just the head
of a voluntary organization that is trying
to help. He has become known to you on a
very personal basis through meetings,
telephone conversations, and e-mails, all
designed to keep you informed of what is
happening here at "ground zero".
John
Manners has been President of the UCCR Board
ever since the inception of the
organization. He has unselfishly provided
the guidance and motivating force to
maintain the UCCR proactive in service to
all investors, most of whom have been unable
to represent themselves during the nearly
six years we have faced this legal nightmare
here in Costa Rica. Undaunted by the many
setbacks, without remuneration, and with an
unwavering loyalty to the strategy that has
held like-minded investors together for so
long, he has earned our respect and our
gratitude.
Before
leaving, John authorized us to tell you of
his illness. In typical Manners fashion, he
gave us (the Board) our marching orders
before leaving Costa Rica. You may be
assured that we will follow those orders,
but we cannot guarantee the personal
attention that you may be accustomed to
receiving from John.
We will
do our best to keep you informed with EBS
messages when there is news to report that
may be of interest and relevance.
Some of
you may wish to express your thoughts to
John. Please send your messages to our
e-mail address
uccr@ticostuff.com
and we will forward your messages to him.
Please do not be offended if you do not
receive a personal reply. (If he can, he
will.)
Thank you for your
understanding and support.
